Find Your Brave at Newington

6th February 2020

Find Your Brave

We believe that every young person has bravery in them but many young people need help to find that bravery. At Swale Youth we design activities to help young people find bravery! Swale Youth has young people's wellbeing high on the agenda of all we do.

The theme of Children's Mental Health awareness week is 'Find Your Brave' and some of our youth and after school clubs have focused their session around these thought. We think it is really important for young people to know that we are a safe space where they can talk and we are not afraid to have conversations about mental health.

At Newington the group started off making posters of things that make them happy, followed by a Jenga game about what can cause people to feel down, and ways we can help build ourselves back up. Playing games is a great way to help discussions start and people were able to find out more about their friends, and maybe some new ways to build themselves, or their friends up again on a bad day.

After tuck we took the time to write a positive message about each person at Newington Youth Club, we enjoyed reading these back! Isn't it great when other people can help us find our brave! We want all our youth clubs to be places of positivity, courage & kindness. Our evening was finished off with a game of musical emotions.
