Doctor Who on Lockdown & Wellbeing

17th April 2020

Doctor Who featured on our Wellbeing Live as we spoke to Emily, a freelance journalist who writes for Doctor Who magazine. She has also organised a Doctor Who project to connect people across the world in one viewing experience a week!

Something that helps me when I feel overwhelmed is to write my problem as a story, it helps me be more creative with finding solutions. Here's how you can make a Doctor Who storyboard!

To prepare: Draw out six boxes (like a comic strip)

Thinking about the current lockdown situation we are going to draw it into a story. Imagine you have found yourself landed in this new atmosphere of lockdown...

Box One: Create a name for your destination. I have called my 'Window-4 of the By Sing Facility', because my home has 4 main windows and I live in the Bysingwood area of Faversham!

Box Two: Draw your companions, who is with you in this situation? I put me on my own, but maybe I should have included a alien cat as next doors cat keeps coming over to say hi!

Box Three: The Doctor likes to explore destinations so in the third box, fill it with things that describe your surrounding. I've notice my house has lots and lots of doors, so I have drawn doors and coloured the box blue because I have a lot of blue walls!

Box Four: We usually see that The Doctor has emotions about where he has landed. Sometimes he is super excited, other times he gets angry, we often see his compassion for people and sometimes we see him sad and lonely. Lets draw some emojis to how this planet is making us feel at the moment.

Box Five: Think about what it is that is making you feel these emotions. I've put that there is something shielding the facility and it is meddling with my communications systems and my energy levels.

Box Six: Finally, as Emily says in the video, what would the Doctor do? Here is where we can start to be creative with ideas! I've decided he would restore my communications through new technology, he would give me the 'Sphere of Six' (what we know as the Wheel of Wellbeing) to boost my energy and would with his wisdom help me to think differently about the whole situation?

I wonder what ideas you came up with - we would love to see your ideas, you can send them to socialmedia@brogdalecic.co.uk
