Advent Self Care
1st December 2020
Happy Advent!
When I was younger I loved the start of advent, we decorated, we wrapped, we wrote and we cooked. Things are a bit different now as an adult. I still love December but I also love the stage and so this month is usually full of costume changes, last minute rehearsals, song lyrics and audience! This year will be very different.
This year I have an opportunity to experiment with self care and slowing down rather than sliding down into Christmas!
This year on our social media we will be posting our Online Advent Calendar of Self Care. Do join us in our daily activities.
Day One
Take some notepaper (or a spare Christmas card if you have one) and spend a few minutes writing to yourself. Tell yourself what you would like to achieve in 'self care' this month, what you will choose to enjoy and give your time too. If could look like this;
Dear me
This December, I am going to be kind to myself and to those around me. I would like my present to myself to be that I have learnt some good techniques for looking after myself and I would like to go into Christmas relaxed! Here are some of the things I will do:
- Write a Christmas card each night, with a proper message in it
- Take pictures of the good things that make me smile this month
- Make time to just sit and watch the Christmas tree lights
- Dance around (as exercise!) to my Christmas playlist
- Try to make Christmas Stars
- Go for walks with friends
- Drink lots of hot chocolate!
This December might be different but it can also be good.
If you want to try a different kind of Christmas star, look at what one of the Craftworks College Students creaed with coat hangers, tape and fairy lights.
